Joseph B. Hafner is the founder of Go For Hope International, a nonprofit charity that brings education to the most disadvantaged children in Central America.  In 2010, Joe and his wife and three young children left behind everything they were familiar with and moved to Nicaragua, the second-poorest country in the Western Hemisphere.  They did not speak Spanish, had no connections in the region, had very little money and no job, and did not know where they would live.  Nine months later they returned to the United States, transformed by a renewed sense of compassion, generosity, and gratitude. Within six months, Go For Hope was born.
